William Baber, General Manager
William is a native of Colorado, who graduated from the University of Colorado. After his time in Boulder, he moved to Atlanta and immediately immersed himself in the burgeoning food and beverage scene. As Director of Special Events for The Dolce Group (Dolce, Geisha House, Ten Pin Alley), he enhanced his love of wine, fine dining, and private events. At The Georgian Terrace hotel, William held various positions including General Manager, Beverage Director, and Assistant Food & Beverage Director of their esteemed Livingston Restaurant. He was instrumental in the opening of Proof & Provision, a craft cocktail bar in the basement of the Georgian Terrace. From there, he continued to feed his passion for impeccable service, elevated food and cocktails, and exceptional events by joining The Glenn Hotel, Marriott Autograph Collection, as General Manager of Food & Beverage. William is excited to bring his diverse experience and knowledge to City Winery. William hopes to provide each guest with an unforgettable experience that touches all five senses.
Travis Green, Head WinemakerGrowing up in the North Georgia mountains, Travis always had a deep appreciation for the tastes and smells of his home - from wild honeysuckles and muscadines to his grandmother’s cooking. After a few years in Boston and abroad filled with Irish literature, travel, and public radio, Travis returned home in 2011 to open a 7-acre vineyard and winery in the Georgia mountains committed to showcasing the area's unique terroir. As the winery grew, garnering awards from regional and national wine competitions, Travis began consulting as a winemaker for other Georgia wineries. He is deeply involved with the Georgia wine industry, serving as the membership chair of the Winegrower’s Association of Georgia and helping to establish Georgia’s first American Viticultural Area, the Upper Hiwassee Highlands. While always a country boy at heart, Travis fell in love with Atlanta and lives in Kirkwood with his wife and three cats. He loves Cabernet Franc and soccer, though rarely at the same time. When not crafting wines in City Winery’s cellar, Travis is puttering in the garden, tending his beehives, or planning his next trip.
Nicholas Anderson, Executive Chef
The childhood memories of fresh ingredients on the family table is what inspires Chef Nicholas Anderson’s cuisine still today. Showing talent early, Nicholas participated in the ProStart Program in his teens and became team lead at the competitions, winning two gold medals. Nicholas was also selected to participate in Career Academy at the Ritz Carlton hosted by the Georgia State Hospitality Association. Earning a degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales, Nicholas graduated Magna Cum Laude and was awarded the distinguished James Beard Scholarship. For several years, Nicholas was Chef at the CEO Unilever House at the prestigious Masters. As Sous Chef at Canoe (Mobil 4 Star Award recipient), he supervised 25 line cooks and all preparations for the 300+ nightly seatings. From there, he was named Chef de Cuisine at Rathbun’s restaurant, owned by Chef Kevin Rathbun (winner of Iron Chef and Chopped). Rated by Zagat as one of the top ten restaurants in Atlanta, Nick kept the menu seasonal and diverse. As Executive Chef at Ormsbys, Nicholas brought on farmers to elevate the menu to the standards of the west side Atlanta culinary district. At City Winery, Chef Nicholas’ focus is not only using local Georgia ingredients, but taking it a step further with in-house complements such as using Ponce Pinot Noir grapes for Pinot Pimiento Cheese, yeast leftover from winemaking (lees) for flatbread dough, and grape juice for house vinegar.
Brandon Walters, Sous ChefBrandon, a Georgia native, is a graduate of the Hyde Park New York Culinary Institute of America. Since then, Brandon’s culinary background has been working in the finest kitchens of platinum country clubs such as Cherokee Town & Country Club (under the tutelage of Certified Master Chef Kevin Walker), Cherry Hills Country Club, and the five diamond Denver Four Seasons Hotel. Through his journey of serving the upper echelon in multi-course dining, Brandon has developed a palette for not only international, but modern day cuisine. When he’s not developing new menu ideas or working alongside the brigade, you can find Brandon gallivanting around Atlanta trying new restaurants or hiking the North Georgia Mountains.
Artiva Gunn, Pastry Chef
Raised in Pine Mountain, Georgia, Artiva took to the kitchen at an early age and ultimately pursued her culinary studies at Le Cordon Bleu before becoming pastry chef at City Winery. She previously worked at the Sandals resort in Ochos Rios, Jamaica, as well as at the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta hotel. While Chef Artiva’s love of flavors like sweet potato and orange is well-known, she also whips up a mean caramel pecan cheesecake. For her, creating "Fine Southern Desserts" at City Winery means taking a cherished family recipe and making it "pop" with a modern twist. Her creations have been adored by everyone from Oprah (loved Artiva's coconut cake!) to Outkast, Monica, and many others..
Rodney Stammel, Program DirectorRodney has become a well-known and highly-respected professional in the music industry over his career, starting in artist management for bands like Sister Hazel and spending the last 12 years creating artist and guest experiences for music festivals like The Rock Boat Cayamo on cruise ships. Having been introduced to the City Winery experience in 2013, Rodney felt immediately drawn to the unique and intimate experience of the venue and leadership's vision for growth. Rodney has called Atlanta home for more than 20 years, and so is especially excited to join City Winery as talent buyer, bringing his expertise in booking shows and creativity in delivering unique guest experiences to the Atlanta team. When he is not in work mode, you will probably find Rodney hanging with his two daughters or hacking away on the nearest golf course.
Nick Sparwath, Concert ManagerNick joined City Winery as the first intern for the Atlanta location. Now, as Concert Manager, he makes sure all shows run smoothly and all artists and guests alike feel like a VIP when inside the venue. His passion for music began as a child when his dad first exposed him to the music of the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Yes and more. As an Atlanta native. A graduate of Georgia State’s Business and Music schools,Nick has been involved in the music industry in a variety of ways including merchandise sales, working the door at small clubs, and helping set up hospitality for artists like the Foo Fighters. On his off days, you can find Nick searching the local record stores adding to his extensive vinyl collection.
Jim Ethridge, Marketing DirectorJim grew up in Memphis, Home of the Blues and Birthplace of Rock n Roll. A love of those roots and a deep love of music brought him to City Winery as the marketing director for Atlanta. Before City Winery, Jim was the Publicity Director for Allied Integrated Marketing. Highlights there included 12 awards for the 40th anniversary of the “Save the Fox” campaign, a yearlong campaign for the Fox Theatre to thank the theater’s hometown. Prior to Allied, Jim spearheaded communications projects for Fortune 500 brands (Expedia, Nabisco, etc.) and celebrity talent. Yes, he worked with CeeLo on a Meow Mix project, in case you were wondering. And before that, he worked at Vanguard Records on albums for many City Winery artists. Furthermore, Jim’s presented at conferences such as Digital Impact and has been published regarding the future of marketing. He received his Master’s in communication from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!), where he was a Screening Judge for the Peabody Awards. If he’s not seeing live music, he’s talking about music. Or thinking about music. Or playing music. Music.
Seth Ramsey, Marketing CoordinatorBecause of his communication skills and strong work ethic, Seth made the leap from intern to Marketing Coordinator. We couldn’t be happier to have him. He plays a wide variety of instruments and continues to pursue music as an art and as a field of study. Beyond that, Seth speaks French, Italian, Hebrew, Russian, German, and, of course, English. Seth grew up between Chicago and Atlanta, which he makes apparent by wearing Cubs-related clothing almost every day (no, really).
Lauren Fielder, Event Director
Upon graduating from the W.P Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, Lauren began her career in sales for the hospitality and restaurant industry. She moved to Atlanta in 2012 where she oversaw corporate event sales for a property management group with a diverse portfolio of restaurants, event venues, and hotels. During her tenure there, she coordinated events for a range of clientele from fortune 100 companies to national non-profits and weddings and was promoted to the position of event director in 2015. In early 2017, Lauren joined the City Winery team where she brings a passion for planning events and love for Southern culture. Lauren’s creativity, ambitious attitude, and heart for client service has resulted in a successful approach to event planning. Outside of her day job, Lauren has a passion for live music, dancing like no one is watching, sipping rose wine, pretending all dogs are her own, and exploring the Chattahoochee River.
Lauren Ordonio, Event Manager
Lauren lives and breathes events. Born in Rhode Island, Lauren grew up in Virginia with a love for track and field, and now she runs around keeping clients happy. Entering the hospitality field to help pay for college, Lauren instantly fell in love creating memorable dining experiences for guests. Working various positions at Kiku Japanese Steakhouse and Sushibar and MF Sushibar, she soon took on management roles that helped prepare her for the world of events. Lauren ultimately found her calling as an Events Manager at City Winery Atlanta where she's gracefully handled events ranging from 9 to 900 guests. From walking guests through creating their dream private event to overseeing all aspects of giving clients a memorable experience, she successfully juggles many tasks on a daily basis. When Lauren isn't attending to her guests, she has got her hands full with 3 beautiful boys.
Justin Dye, Box Office ManagerJustin’s love of music started at 14 years old upon receiving his first guitar for Christmas. In and out of hard rock bands through college, he later made the shift towards singer/songwriter. Throughout the years, Justin self-released a number of albums and played countless shows in Orlando, FL. As much as he loves music, he also has a love for Business Management. He spent over 10 years in Hospitality and Tourism Management, working for companies such as Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and even serving as General Manager of Gator Adventure Productions, a conservation focused on helping endangered crocodiles, alligators, and snakes. Seeking to blend his two passions together, Justin joined the team at City Winery Atlanta. In his time away from work, Justin is recording his newest album, collecting vinyl, and soaking up the amazing culture in his new home.
Celeste Carson, Graphic DesignerCeleste is a Georgia native who started filling up sketchbooks at an early age. Her love of art evolved into a passion for design and there’s rarely a moment when she’s not creating something. She joined the City Winery Atlanta team in March of 2016 following a position as head designer of an Atlanta-based accessories company, C4 Belts. She received her BFA from the University of Georgia with a concentration in Interior Design, but her design focus now lies in marketing, branding, and creative direction. When not designing, she enjoys blogging about nerdy topics, sewing costumes, and photography.
Jacquelyn Mosley, Business ManagerJacquelyn has been in the hospitality industry for almost 20 years. She has seen nearly all facets of the restaurant, holding every position from busser to bartender at a four-star restaurant and everything in between for many years. Jacquelyn also has a passion for good food, especially dessert! While attending culinary arts school, she excelled in the pastry program, graduating in 2004. While baking for Guckenheimer, her sweet creations were instrumental in securing the food account with Google. In her free time, she enjoys creating cakes, running with The Boss’Man (her dog), and spending as much time at the beach as possible.
Mani Gonzalez, Beverage DirectorWith a passion for all things beverage, Mani has spent almost 20 years in the hospitality industry. Establishing a strong foundation as a bartender and F&B manager in Florida, broadening and fine-tuning those skills in New York City, and honing new skills in Napa, she has been exposed to nearly every facet of the industry – theme parks, local pubs, restaurants, resorts, wineries, breweries, and everything in between. She extends her unique combination of Southern hospitality and Big Apple charisma to enhance every guest’s City Winery experience. When not at City Winery, Mani enjoys reading, watching and playing sports, is a DJ and musician, and enjoys travelling with an underlying urge to spend as much time as possible at the beach with her family. She has also initiated research and training with the Court of Master Sommeliers, the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, and the Cicerone Certification Program.
Devan Knoblach, Dining Room ManagerDevan fell into the hospitality industry after working more than seven years as a barista. After spending time abroad in Paris sampling the pastries, cafes and wine, she came back to Atlanta and started truly developing her barista and wine knowledge. While working for a farm-to-table restaurant, she gained the knowledge and encouragement to take her CMS Level 1. Devan’s passion for wine and the long term goal of reaching her Level 4 with the Court of Master Sommelier’s makes her a welcome addition to the City Winery family. Devan lives in Decatur with her dog Jude where they walk a lot and share many laughs and stories over bottles of wine.
Kenneth Cunningham, Venue Manager
Ken’s true passion is music and wine. And what better place to pursue those loves? Ken has been with City Winery Atlanta since the beginning and is a big part of the success of the operations team. Ken has a major in Accounting from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and he holds Series 3 and 5 certifications. While finance has given him a strong business foundation, Ken’s love for the hospitality industry holds his heart. That love shines through in the way he approaches all guests who come through the venue. Ken makes sure that their needs are met, and it shows.
Shay Starks, ManagerGraduating from Georgia State with a bachelor's degree in fine art, Shay “fell” into hospitality as opening staff server assistant for City Winery Atlanta. Her love of service and of City Winery has brought Shay up the ladder to the position of Floor Manager (aka Firefighter!), and we couldn't be happier to have her. She brings a strong support system to the staff, bridging the gap between servers and the many departments of City Winery Atlanta. In her spare time, Shay likes to people watch, blast music, and photograph whatever tickles her fancy.
Toan Pham, Production Manager/ Sound EngineerOriginally from Southern California, Toan’s love of music led him to the world of high end audio. During 14 years in the specialty audio industry, he helped clients design audio systems and custom home theaters. Toan lent his hear to manufacturer’s prototypes and even started his own successful company. A desire to learn about the creative aspect of music production drew him back to school where he graduated valedictorian in the field of sound arts. Since then, he's worked for studios in the San Francisco area and on a variety of projects as a freelance engineer recording and mixing both studio and radio performances.
JR Smith, Service DirectorJR, who only lets his mother call him by his given name, comes to City Winery with close to two decades of food and beverage experience. After catching the hospitality bug while working for a caterer in high school, he jumped into the bar and restaurant scene while attending the University of Massachusetts. After graduation, and relocation to the North Carolina coast, JR took a brief respite from hospitality to get a “real job.” Spoiler alert: He hated it. After re-dedicating himself to food and beverage, JR quickly advanced through the ranks to the management level. A move to Atlanta soon followed to join one of the most vibrant and exciting food scenes in America. When not at City Winery, you'll most likely find JR on his front porch with friends, listening to music and drinking pink wine.
