Present at the Counterculture's Creation.
Led by founder, singer, pacifist and poet Ed Sanders, the counterculture New York-based band, The Fugs, performs at City Winery in one of only two concerts planned. Founded in early 1965 by Sanders and the late Tuli Kupferberg, The Fugs made a name for itself with anti-war anthems such as “Kill for Peace” and “CIA Man,” landing Sanders on the cover of Life magazine in February 1967. With a decades-long history of recording, performing and pacificism, the band’s current lineup includes Sanders (vocals), Steve Taylor (vocals, guitar), Coby Batty (drums, percussion), and Scott Petito (bass, keyboards). Chicago singer-songwriter Al Rose opens.
