Mae Ya Cater Ryan
Here comes Mae Ya Carter Ryan: The 11-year-old Bronzeville native and Merit School of Music student has a voice that sounds decades older than she is. People are starting to listen.
Three Ellas featuring Dee Alexander, Spider Saloff and Frieda Lee
Three of Chicago’s premier vocalists pay tribute to the genius of Ella Fitzgerald. Howard Reich of the Chicago Tribune says “jazz singing is a profoundly sensual art, at least when Dee Alexander, Frieda Lee and Spider Saloff are standing before the microphones.” And Chicagoist writes, “Separately, each of these ladies has her own distinct voice, but together, they embody the heart-turning passion of the First Lady of Song, from her sensual, breathy tones to her pure, rich highs.”
