“A tale of healing and hope inspired by Cobain’s tragic story.” – Chicago Tribune

“Critic’s Choice in Theatre/Performance. An original, passionate, witty work that confronts the conundrums of transformation… It bridges the gap between stripped-down rock and theatrical storytelling.” — Chicago Reader

“UNPLUGGED isn’t about modern rock ’n’ roll — it is rock ’n’ roll.” – John Doe, founder/frontman of X (the band)

Maya Kuper & Paul McComas’ alt-rock musical UNPLUGGED: A Survivor’s Story in Scenes & Songs tells the inspiring story of Dayna Clay, a 27-year-old rocker bravely battling depression and post-traumatic stress in the wake of childhood sexual abuse.

Although Dayna’s story is a work of fiction, UNPLUGGED addresses real issues. Through songs and scenes adapted from McComas’ acclaimed novel, this uplifting show chronicles Dayna’s bumpy journey out of depression, through the South Dakota Badlands, and into hope, healing, self-discovery, full embrace of her bisexuality, and love.

Join Maya, Paul and the Dayna Clay Band at City Winery Chicago for this very special Book & Album Release Party performance! Come celebrate the launch of the 15th Anniversary edition of the novel, and the UNPLUGGED soundtrack album on Chicago Acoustic Underground’s CAUDog Records.

85% of proceeds from ticket sales will benefit RAINN (the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network)’s National Sexual Assault Hotline, and The Kennedy Forum, which works to eliminate the stigma around mental illness and enforce parity for behavioral healthcare.
