Identical twins Craig and Charlie Reid, aka The Proclaimers are returning to the U.S. in April 2013 for a special series of acoustic shows in support of LIKE COMEDY. Their ninth full length release (the second for 429 Records) and the follow-up to the acclaimed release “Notes & Rhymes.” The new album finds the boys back in fine form, having already garnered rave reviews in the UK upon its release earlier this year. “Pure Class” writes Mojo Magazine in it's 4-Star review.
The Proclaimers’ U.S. tour begins in New York City on April 12th at City Winery NYC. LIKE COMEDY will be available on 429 Records on April 9th.
Strikingly individual, twin brothers Craig and Charlie Reid have, over the years, enjoyed huge success around the globe as the emotional honesty, political fire, wit and sing-along raucousness of their songs and their extensive touring has enlightened and entertained fans new and old. The Proclaimers have carved out a niche for themselves in the netherworld where pop, folk, new wave and punk collide. In the process they have sold more than seven million albums and enjoyed Gold and Platinum singles and albums in UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
About the forthcoming tour, Craig & Charlie commented: “We very much look forward to touring the USA again, and to performing acoustic versions of some of the old and new songs. As well we are excited to see old and new fans at the shows.”
The Proclaimers and their band have spent the last few months of 2012 touring extensively, playing 57 shows across the UK; performing to over 200,000 fans. November and December also saw the filming of the movie version of the hugely successful award winning UK musical drama ‘Sunshine On Leith’, based around songs by The Proclaimers. The screenplay was written by Stephen Greenhorn, directed by Dexter Fletcher, produced by Andrew Macdonald (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, Heartlands, The Last King Of Scotland, 28 Weeks Later, Sunshine, Never Let Me Go, Dredd 3D) of DNA Films & Black Camel Pictures and stars Peter Mullen and Jane Horrocks. The drama follows the highs and lows of two soldiers returning home from Afghanistan.
