CHIRP RADIO Welcomes Theresa Andersson with special guest Helen Money
Composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, Theresa Andersson. Theresa received national attention after her 2008 album, Hummingbird Go, garnered accolaides from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Paste, and the Los Angeles Times. Her one-woman show, featured on the DVD Theresa Andersson: Live at Le Petit, gained noteriety online and through her performances for Conan O'Brien and Craig Ferguson. Her latest album, Street Parade, was released earlier in 2012.
Cellist/composer Alison Chesley, a.k.a. Helen Money, merges her classical training with a lifelong affinity for punk rock and a taste for heavy metal. In the process, she’s uncovered previously uncharted territories on her instrument, often utilizing loops and effects to manipulate melodies and rhythms from clean staccatos into a one-woman wall of sound. Her unique style has made her a sought-after studio musician, recording and collaborating for the likes of Bob Mould, Russian Circles, Anthrax, and Broken Social Scene, and also composing for film and dance projects. Although Chesley relocated to her hometown of Los Angeles in 2010, she remains a major presence in the Chicago music community. Her third release, Arriving Angels, was recorded and mixed by Steve Albini and features drummer Jason Roeder (Neurosis). Arriving Angels is due out on Profound Lore Records this February.
