SPAIN
The Tempranillo Imports portfolio is among the largest and deepest of any Spanish importer and represents the astonishing diversity of modern Spain’s wine scene. Tempranillo has been called the ‘blue chip standard for great Spanish wines and wine values’ by no less than Robert Parker Jr. They began importing Spanish wines into the US in 1987 and have almost single-handedly changed America’s view of Spanish wines. Led by Peter Brunet of Tempranillo Imports, we’ll sample eight wines from the portfolio, ranging from the refreshing Botani Moscatel to Joan Simo’s Priorat ‘Les Eres’ 2004, rated 94 points in the Wine Advocate.
Wines:
• Llopart Cava Leopardi Brut Rose 2006 (Monastrell, Xarel-lo, Parellada, Chardonnay)
• Botani Moscatel 2009 (Moscato)
• Tarima Jumilla 2009 (Monastrell)
• Vega Sindoa ‘El Chaparral’ 2008 (Garnacha)
• Teso la Monja Toro ‘Almirez’ 2007 (Tempranillo)
