- John McEuen w/special guest appearance by David Amram
- 9:00pm
John McEuen, a founding and current member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, brings to our stage his musical impressions from over 40 years of worldwide travels with performing expertise that sets him apart from others as he focuses on acoustic guitar, banjo, fiddle, and mandolin intertwined with storytelling.
This first leg of this run will include a jam party with East Coast music friends dropping in throughout the show, including a special guest appearance by David Amram ( www.davidamram.com), Cynthia Sayer (4 string banjo ace), Jen Larson (great bluegrass singer/guitarist from Straight Drive), Jon Mark Fletcher (hot NYC banjo player from All Night Cookin'), and a few others.
During his 43 years with the band, John has constantly broadened his artistic pursuits with his solo performances, film scores, and solo albums - leading to reviewers giving him the nickname: “The String Wizard.” With the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, he has made over 30 albums, including the platinum-selling Will the Circle Be Unbroken. The NGDB has been nominated for four Grammys (winning two), six Country Music Awards (winning one), and even won the Best Recorded Event award from the International Bluegrass Music Association in 2003. On his own, McEuen has also been honored with Emmy and Grammy nominations and won the Western Heritage Award. John's most recent production, Steve Martin's “The Crow” is now nominated in 6 IBMA categories. (McEuen recently appeared with his old friend on the American Idol finale, Ellen, and the Grand Ole Opry) Come experience this once in a lifetime show…three times!
John adds:
“As I am always being asked questions about banjo, music, NGDB, Circle album, film scoring I am going to take advantage of this great room for a pre-show 7 pm workshop (banjo and guitar) to demonstrate some playing 'tricks', recording techniques, and playing live tips.. along with discussions about film scoring or any questions you may have about both the Will the Circle Be Unbroken album or my recent production of Steve Martin - The Crow. This will all be covered by the price of a show ticket..
