Tuscany is home to some of Italy’s most popular and iconic wines, but what’s really the difference between a Chianti Classico and a Brunello di Montalcino? And what’s a Super-Tuscan anyway? Alessia Antinori will lead us through a sampling of Sangiovese, the grape of Tuscany. Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino, Badia a Passignano Chianti Classico Riserva, Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva and Tignanello will be featured, and represent an intriguing cross section of styles that highlight Sangiovese's complex character.
Bring your friends, colleagues, and clients to meet Alessia, learn about Tuscan wines, and enjoy a three-course lunch featuring the wines of Antinori. Drop your business card in the basket for a chance to win an autographed bottle of 2006 Tignanello, Antinori’s iconic and highly rated super-Tuscan.
Check out a 60 Minutes piece about the Antinori Family
The Antinori family’s wine business is one of the oldest on earth and has passed from father to son for over 600 years. Current director Marchese Piero Antinori had no male heirs and nearly sold control of the business a few years ago, until he realized that his three daughters were ready, willing, and able to take over. Alessia and her sisters Allegra and Albiera are the first women in 26 generations to play a major role in the winemaking and operations of the business, and now travel the countryside and the world helping to grow, promote, and market Antinori wines.
