1:15 – 2:00 Basics of Winemaking with David Lecomte

2:30 – 3:15 Fragrance & Wine with Mary John Baumann
Your sense of smell plays a major role in the sensorial enjoyment of wine. Mary John Baumann, DWS is a wine professional as well as a marketing executive with many years of experience in the fragrance industry. Using fine fragrance notes created by Master Perfumer Harry Fremont of the Swiss fragrance house Firmenich, Baumann will share the importance of sense of smell in wine appreciation while helping you develop your scent vocabulary by using your nose.
3:45 – 4:30 Developing your Wine Buying Confidence with the Vino Vixens
Are you overwhelmed by the choices at your local wine retailer? Wish you felt more comfortable ordering wine off a restaurant menu? This session is designed to give you strategies for buying wine with confidence. The Vino Vixens, a group of experienced female wine professionals, create a friendly, non-intimidating format in which people with all levels of wine knowledge are welcome and no question is too simple. Vino Vixen members conducting the seminar include Cynthia Goddeau (sommelier at Del Posto), Jill Roberts (formerly at The Modern and The Harrison), Julee Resendez (Southern Wine & Spirits, formerly at The Harrison, Café Boulud, and Aquavit), Mariko Kobayashi (wine director at Esca).
