- Crushpad vs. City Winery Throwdown - Rumble in the Concrete Jungle
- 7:00pm Seating / 7:30pm Show
Join us for a Crushpad vs. City Winery Throwdown -Rumble in the Concrete Jungle
This event will occur at City Winery in NYC.
Crushpad and City Winery represent the ultimate dual expressions of the custom winemaking movement - on one side, the sunny Northern Californian custom facility nestled amongst vineyards making wine for the dedicated wine geek; on the other side the urban East Coast winery in a major metropolitan setting handcrafting wines from some of the best vineyards around.
The throwdown is the Ultimate Taste Test - Three rounds of head to head competitive tasting of wines made by California's heavyweight champion, and New York City's own contender. Attendees will determine the winners by ballot and taste alongside each other in a blind format. Only after the votes have been cast will the winners be announced.
Ticket price includes light fare and presentations by both CEOs - Crushpad's Michael "The Crusher" Brill and City Winery's Michael "The Tank" Dorf. Members of both winemaking programs will also be on hand to discuss their winemaking experiences. Part proceeds of the event will be donated to the charity of choice of the winner.
Come out to support your favorite producer and take part in determining the first winner of what is set to become an annual challenge.
Each round will focus on varietal and location match ups as well as some surprises.
Round 1 - The White Wine Wrangle
A showdown of two white varietals from around California's varied AVAs - Chardonnay and Roussanne from both producers will face off in the first round of tastings to set the stage for the ultimate taste test.
Round 2 - Pinot Punch Up
A Pinot Noir taste off - two Russian River Valley going head to head, followed by an Oregon and Northern California faceoff. Elegance over power, structure over character.
Round 3 - Cabernet Championship Round
Who will emerge victorious as we take three Napa Cabs and put them up against each other? Hillside versus Valley floor, New French Oak versus American, Full malo or not.
To quote Highlander - There can be only one.

ABOUT CITY WINERY
The newcomer and challenger with two vintages and 500 barrels produced, City Winery is represented by Michael "The Tank" Dorf. A highly motivated performer looking to make a mark.
City Winery is the brainchild of Michael Dorf, founder of the iconic Knitting Factory, who wanted to create a space in Manhattan where he could combine his shared passions for wine and music. Michael caught the winemaking bug after making his first barrel of wine in California with his brother Josh and wine maker David Tate, formally of Ridge Winery and now at Barnett Vineyards, and wanted to share that experience with like minded individuals.
City Winery caters to urban wine enthusiasts who desire the experience of making their own wine, but who are not necessarily able to leave their busy urban lives to decamp to a vineyard to pursue their winemaking endeavours. City Winery is also more than just a custom crush facility, it is a place to focus on the enjoyment and satisfaction that comes from sharing wine with friends It aims to create those unique social bonds that occur when communities of like-minded people gather over a bottle of good quality wine, while dining on a freshly-prepared meals and listening to their favorite artists perform.
That is what City Winery is about: community, creativity and culture. A vibrant, interactive space in New York where folks can not only make wine, but also meet friends new and old while indulging their passion for quality food, music, art and life.
