Food & Wine Photo Shoot

During a photo shoot for a 3-page feature in Food & Wine Magazine on City Winery, Suzanne Vega, Alvaro Palacios and Michael Dorf chatted on the new stage. Michael asked both during the hour-long shoot if they saw a connection between winemakers and musicians. What wines pair with different genres of music? Alvaro, considered one of the most important Spanish winemakers in Rioja and the Priorat, made this very articulate observation. "I would pair the incredible music of Suzanne, with an elegant sparkly Riesling from the Alsace, as it would be both dry, graceful, insightful, and go deep to the minerality, yet with a hint of sweetness."

Suzanne was touched by Alvaro's comment and suggested he should be a writer for his eloquent description. The conversation continued touching on Suzanne's recent 6-week tour of France. Suzanne was so struck by the great food and wine, that she started blogging about it during the tour. Suzanne Vega will be appearing in a musical pairing with Lenny Kaye at City Winery on January 15th as well as a guest performer with Philip Glass on March 30th. Alvaro promises to throw regular dinner parties at City Winery when he comes back to New York.
