For its inaugural New Year's show launching Manhattan's most innovative concert venues in decades, City Winery is proud to present the beautifully soulful singer-songwriter Joan Osborne. In a career that spans over fifteen years, Joan has proven to be an artistically restless yet consistently enthralling performer. Best known for her Grammy-nominated single "One of Us," (1996) Osborne's full repertoire encompasses a nuanced collection of songs steeped in soul, country and blues. In 2002, Osborne cemented her reputation as a top tier soul singer with an incredible turn in the acclaimed documentary film 'Standing in the Shadows of Motown,' followed by a tour with legendary Motown backing band The Funk Brothers. In 2003, Osborne toured with the Dixie Chicks, and then for the following two years wowed audiences across the country while she toured as the lead singer for The Grateful Dead. In 2007, she graced the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. Osborne loves to sing and perform in many different genres, but on her latest release she returns to her soulful roots in rock. 2008's "Little Wild One" reunites her with the Grammy All-Star team of Rick Chertoff , Rob Hyman and Eric Bazilian of The Hooters, who produced her last breakthrough, debut album 'Relish,' which sold five million copies worldwide and scored six Grammy nominations.
