About:

Emily West is a singer, songwriter, who defies easy categorization.  The Waterloo, Iowa native moved to Nashville at the age of 18 and fell swiftly into country pop-dom, signing with Capitol Records and releasing “Rocks in Your Shoes,” which landed in the top 40 on Billboard's Hot Country charts.  Her duet with Keith Urban, “Blue Sky,” likewise found a home in the top 40, met with critical praise, and was nominated for the Academy of Country Music Awards’ vocal event of the year in 2008.  Feeling stifled by the industry’s tendency to put its artists in a box, West moved to New York City and on a whim decided to audition for the 9th seasons of America’s Got Talent, the show that would see her as its immensely popular runner up, performing live with Cyndi Lauper for 12 million viewers on its finale.  Following her success on the show, she signed with Sony Masterworks and released her debut album “All For You,” which gave her the opportunity to explore the vast array of musical personalities she effortlessly embodies – from vaudeville bombshell to lovelorn bard.  Particularly striking about West is not only her powerhouse voice and her dazzling artistry, but also her ability to straddle seeming opposites to create captivating dualities of style and composition.  West has the remarkable ability to unify a sarcastic toughness with an ethereal vulnerability, becoming a raunchy angel, a down-to-earth deity.  In singing about love, loss, or lewdness, she gets at the heart of emotion with an almost surgical skill, using her prodigious gift as a singer and her innate charisma and wit to convey the entire spectrum of human experience. Whether it’s the bemoaning of a broken heart, an indictment of a philanderer, an anthem for the disenfranchised, or a scathing wisecrack about the darker points of relationships, her music possesses above all else a wisdom and a spirit that transcend genre.  At the core of these magnificent dichotomies there is inevitably one common element: truth. With impassioned and impeccable execution, West lays bare the flaws inherent in all humans and their messy interactions. Whether through a sultry whisper, a soaring high note, or nasty name-calling, the truth is brought to light in its many disguises, each of which West is more than comfortable to inhabit.  Naïve and vulnerable, but always superb, West keeps us guessing and awestruck.

West released her EP entitled 'Symphonies' in August 2017

She continues to tour with her one woman show, appears on the Grand Old Opry regularly as well as opens for Jay Leno.
