Mayor Bloomberg at City Winery

October 2nd 2009---Last night during a gala LGBT rally to support Mayor Bloomberg, City Winery founder Michael Dorf presented the Mayor with his own custom bottle of Madder Lake Zinfandel during a tour of the winery. Sourced from Lake County, CA and vinified at City Winery's custom facility the Zinfandel is rich, bold, and exudes power. Named for the winery’s location at the corner of Vandam and Varick St – Van Dam Zin is a vibrant red wine crafted by winemaker David Lecomte.

Isaac Mizrahi, Billie Jean King, and Cherry Jones joined 500 members of the LGBT community by rallying at City Winery’s custom crush facility in support of Mayor Bloomberg’s campaign. A cultural anchor for a revitalized downtown City Winery’s unique blend of fully functioning winery, private tasting rooms, vibrant music venue and restaurant space has played host to a diverse range of events.

Mayor Bloomberg’s bottle is a product of the winery’s custom bottle and labeling facility that enables the winery to produce custom products straight to the consumer.

Van Dam Zin is made from grapes sourced from Madder Lake Vineyard, Lake County, CA, a recent AVA just north of Sonoma. Aged 8 months in new and second-year French and American oak, the wine has fruit forward nose, complemented by hints of spice and smoke. Appealing in its youth, this big zinfandel is a terrific food wine. Ideal for Thanksgiving turkey.
