City Winery Voted Best Wine Bar 2009

Thursday Oct 22nd--- City Winery was today awarded the Best Wine Bar by the the Village Voice in their annual Best of NYC list. We thank the Voice for shining a light on what we've been working hard to achieve. L'chiam.

"To mutilate an old adage, wine doesn't sophisticate people. People sophisticate people. So why does every wine bar in New York seem to pipe in that glassy, thin, innocuous piano pop, that nü-elevator nonsense? Is it supposed to add to the soi-adult atmosphere? City Winery, the intimate new wine space in Tribeca, seems to have solved the music crisis: They book live acts several times a week, with excellent taste in the city's indie scene. Brilliant Canadian classical-popster Patrick Watson, venerable guitarist Leo Kottke, gritty rock icon Marianne Faithfull, and more have taken the Winery stage this year.
