ABOUT JON SANDLER
(Album Release Show)
Since picking up a guitar and writing his first song at the age of 9, Jon Sandler has amassed an arsenal of catchy and melodic tunes with far reaching appeal. With a soulful voice, honest lyrics and a charismatic stage presence, he's been compared to a combination of Julian Casablancas, Elton John and John Lennon and recently a blog referred to Sandler as ‘the lovechild of Adam Levine and Tracy Chapman.’ His unique style has been heard throughout the New York City scene over the past 5 years, where he has played over 200 shows at popular venues such as Rockwood Music Hall (Stages 1 and 2), Mercury Lounge, Knitting Factory, Pianos, Arlene’s Grocery, Sullivan Hall, Southpaw, and two sold out shows at the Triad Theater. Jon is currently writing original music for other popular musicians and film and television projects, including a feature documentary and a theme song for a new television pilot. His last single ‘Lost Time’ was picked as the promotional theme song for best-selling author Alex Gellen’s latest novel ‘Love Sick’. His current band, Jon Sandler and The Fancy Band, has opened for such big name recording artists as Teddy Geiger, Mission Hill, Terra Naomi, Green River Ordinance, Sleeperstar and last August played the Nikon Theater at Jones Beach opening for Jimmy Buffett. Most recently, Jon and The Fancy Band were honored with official showcases at the 2010 and 2011 CMJ music marathons in New York City, included on Delta Airlines in-flight radio, and were featured in Billboard Magazine after winning the first ever national 'Mariachi Mash Up' competition sponsored by Hornitos Tequila.
Originally hailing from a small town in upstate New York, Jon made a name for himself in that area, as well. His accomplishments include being invited to perform in the annual holiday show at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, NY and singing the national anthem at the 20,000 seat Pepsi Arena. Jon then moved to Boston where he was signed to a promotional record label and formed a band called Luke Warm. Their improvisational pop style garnered a loyal fan base that filled their shows at prestigious music clubs including The Middle East, Who’s on First, and Harpers Ferry. They soon became the house band on Boston’s local morning show, Bean U.
Currently residing in Brooklyn, New York Jon recorded a full-length self-titled album in 2008 that received critical acclaim. In 2010, Jon and his band recorded a new EP called “The Fancy Band” produced by musician Eric Zeiler (Xylos). Jon was recently signed to super duper records where he continues to perform, tour, and has just finished a new full-length album mixed by Justin Gerrish (Vampire Weekend) set to be released in the Spring of 2012.
ABOUT CURTIS AND REINHARD
Curtis & Reinhard is a new roots-rock collaboration born from two veteran independent acts: New Jersey's own sibling duo Blaire and Gray Reinhard of the Blaire Reinhard Band and Clinton Curtis, the Southern-raised frontman of Clinton Curtis and His Band. The combination of these three distinct songwriters, and their even more distinct voices, fuses the great American roots music genres of blues, country, gospel and folk into songs that can only be described as pure and honest rock 'n' roll.
After years of joining each other on stage and becoming genuine fans of each other's music, they decided to write some songs together and see what would unfold. Within a month, an album was written and the trio was ready to take it to the studio with the help of producer Matt Stine, bassist Justin Goldner, and drummers Andrew McLean and Tom Curiano. The group landed at the mystical Pigeon Club in Hoboken, NJ for a glorious week tracking 15 songs, keeping their focus on the goal of preserving the raw and spontaneous energy from which the songs were created. Curtis & Reinhard "At The Pigeon Club" is now available at curtisreinhard.com and it seems that this musical friendship and fusion of the minds has led to something truly worthwhile.
ABOUT MIRA STROIKA
Chanteuse-songwriter Mira Stroika is a fixture in New York's neo cabaret and indie music scene. A classically trained vocalist, pianist, composer and accordionist, Stroika's highly theatrical performances fuse Western pop sensibilities with Eastern European folk, and French and German cabaret influences. Armed with a flirtatious wit, a riveting voice, and a soulfulness one normally associated with performers of yesteryears, Stroika offers up jaw-dropping interpretations of the classics and original and infectious pop songwriting on subjects as far ranging as Reality TV, UFO's and mortality. Stroika has been compared to Edith Piaf, Tori Amos, Janis Joplin, Amanda Palmer and Amy Winehouse. The daughter of immigrants, Stroika graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Yale University.
Stroika has collaborated with Grammy Award winning artists, toured internationally and performed in New York's hottest venues and underground parties including Lincoln Center, Galapagos Art Space, CMJ, The Knitting Factory, Highline Ballroom, Zipper Factory, The Bitter End, Bowery Electric, Bowery Poetry Club, Drom, Mehanata, The Tank, Local 269, Littlefield, Googie's Lounge, The Living Room, Manhattan Cocktail Gala, Shanghai Mermaid, The Danger, Lee Chappell's Cafe Panache and New York Fashion Week.
