Heather recently hosted TLC’s critically acclaimed foray into late night TV, the sex-themed round table talk-show ALL ABOUT SEX. She just debuted her first Showtime special ‘I Don’t Mean To Brag,’ which achieved record ratings on the network and is currently streaming on Netflix. She gained a throng of loyal fans as a staff writer and for her regular roundtable appearances on E!’s top rated show ‘Chelsea Lately’. She also starred in After Lately, a mockumentary series on E! for 3 successful seasons. As a comedian and performer, Heather doesn’t hold back on anything. She continuously proves to master her craft as a comedian, impressionist, actress, story producer, and best-selling author.
As an author, Heather’s debut book (released June 2010), You’ll Never Blue Ball in this Town Again, spent seven weeks on the New York Times best-seller list, and climbed to the #1 position on Amazon’s “Bestsellers in Entertainment” list. McDonald released her follow up to Blue Balls in February 2013 titled MY INAPPROPRIATE LIFE: Some Material Not Suitable for Small Children, Nuns, or Mature Adults which also became a national bestseller. My Inappropriate Life is an irreverent account of McDonald’s attempts to balance fame with family time, all while doing it her way. McDonald also contributed a chapter to the NY Times #1 bestselling book Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me. Heather’s writing has also been featured in Redbook Magazine, Reader’s Digest, The Hollywood Reporter and she has contributed to New York Magazine’s Vulture.
On top of being a full-time writer and story producer for ‘Chelsea Lately,’ McDonald has also been a regular collaborator with the Wayans Brothers; serving as a writer on their features WHITE CHICKS and DANCE FLICK. Heather was a featured performer on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ and has been a guest star on the hit television series’ ‘Frasier,’ ‘Malcolm in the Middle,’ ‘Reno 911′ and Nickelodeon’s ‘Drake and Josh.’
McDonald was a member of The Groundlings Theater where she performed in the Sunday Company for two years. She is a graduate of the University of Southern
California. Heather has been married to her husband Peter for 15 years and they have 3 children. They reside in the San Fernando Valley where she bought a house on the street she grew up on and her kids attend the same Catholic schools she did. No can accuse Heather of not keeping it real.
Born in the Berkshires in Massachusetts, Dorinda graduated from college and arrived in New York City, working in the showrooms of Liz Claiborne. She met her first husband and followed him to London to start a family and eventually her own cashmere company, DCL Cashmere. Many high-profile London clients like Princess Diana and Joan Collins became acquaintances, and soon, Dorinda left her mark on London society. Ten years in London also brought her a daughter, Hannah, a divorce, and a wish to return to New York to figure out life in the city as a single mom. In 2005, Dorinda met and married financier Dr. Richard Medley, a former Washington power broker and respected speechwriter to congresswoman and vice-presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro, and together they worked on fund-raising for charitable causes with the likes of Bishop Desmond Tutu, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Secretary Madeline Albright, and President Bill and Secretary Hillary Clinton.
After the tragic loss of their beloved Richard in 2011, Dorinda and Hannah found strength in each other and in their loved ones to overcome the radical changes of losing a husband, friend, companion, and father figure. Through perseverance and support from her close friends, Dorinda climbed right back to the top of New York society, eventually meeting boyfriend John Mahdessian, owner of New York's legendary couture restoration house Madame Paulette. Dorinda is always directing her energy and focus into her home, her family, her friends, her favorite charitable organizations like BeautyforFreedom.org, her Twitter, and her love for pop culture.
Dorinda's passion for entertaining was also deeply enhanced with the purchase of Blue Stone Manor, an 11-bedroom estate in her native Great Barrington.
