Loudon Wainwright began his folk career in the late 60’s, and stood out with his nakedly humorous and honest tunes. In 1970 he signed to Columbia Records, and released the Top 40 hit “Dead Skunk”.
While his subsequent albums did not bring the same commercial success, Wainwright became a well known for his quirky personality and sense of humor. Wainwright pursued an acting career while others, including his ex late wife Anna McGarrigle, recorded his songs. Some acting roles include a featured role on the hit TV show M*A*S*H*. Eventually he left Colombia and signed with Rounder, which featured more folk artists on their roster. Wainwright gained a large following in London with “I'm Alright” (1985) and “More Love Songs”.
Since then, he has continued recording music and releasing studio albums. In September of 2014, Wainwright released his latest “ Haven't Got the Blues (Yet)”. It was produced by David Mansfield and issued on 429 Records.
