Barrel Ownership is Affordable at City Winery

City Winery, located in Soho's Hudson Square, is Manhattan's first winery in 40 years. Beyond offering members the chance to make their own private-label wine, City Winery is also a world-class wine bar, live music venue and private event space. This state-of-the-art, interactive, educational and social space is the place where wine enthusiasts of all stripes gather to taste, network and enjoy the exclusive benefits of being part of Manhattan's dynamic new wine community.

The winemaking process for Barrel Owners

Barrel ownership is designed for an individual, couple or small group of friends. For as little as $30 dollars a bottle, owners have the privilege to make their very own barrel of wine that yields over 250 bottles. During the winemaking process, all barrel owners have access to our winery and professional team led by winemaker David Lecomte. City Winery offers a selection of grape varieties from internationally renowned vineyards; currently members can choose grapes from California, Oregon, Washington State and New York in the fall, and fruit from Argentina and Chile will also be available in the spring. Barrel owners have the option to work closely with our wine specialists during crushing and de-stemming, pressing, fermentation, and bottling, or can simply choose to have their favorite grape variety crafted, bottled and delivered to their home: Each member can participate as much or as little as they desire.

Over the next six to twelve months, while the barrel is racked and the wine is aged in our climate-controlled facility, barrel owners may visit the winery to monitor the progress of their wines as often as they like, and barrel tastings are also open to favorite friends, colleagues and clients. Once aging is complete, it's time to bottle, cork and distribute the wine: barrel owners may customize their bottle with their own label, or work with our in-house design team. The final product is a personalized vintage to enjoy or gift for many years to come--over 20 cases of wine crafted for you, and by you!

Three ways to join the City Winery family of winemakers

Primary Barrel Ownership

Barrel Ownership is a personalized winemaking service that allows you to participate hands-on in all stages of the process. Ownership also includes annual winemaker classes in which members participate in comparative tasting of their own wine and others' private labels, and inclusion on a VIP mailing list for all concerts and events at the winery.

Barrel Share Ownership

Barrel Share Ownership is for individuals who do not wish to purchase a barrel membership on their own. Each shared barrel is comprised of six members who contribute equal shares to the overall costs of grapes, oak, bottling and labeling. Barrel shares can be split among a group of friends, or among a group of individuals organized around a common passion for a grape variety e.g. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir or Syrah.

Petite Barrel Program

The Petite Barrel Program includes 10 cases of your choice of 7 different varieties: Cabernet, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Cab Franc, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc (3 case max per variety). It also includes two private meetings during the year with access to our cellar to taste from barrels with the winemakers. Additionally you will get private labels on each of your 120 bottles and an invitation to City Winery's Grand Barrel Tasting.

Corporate Barrel Ownership

A Corporate Membership is a comprehensive and selective service for company gift giving. The entire winemaking process is handled in-house by our expert staff who oversees the private labeling, packaging and distribution. Corporate members are also offered the opportunity to rent our various event spaces for private parties, meetings and company off sites at a discount. All barrel ownership fees are annual.

Included in all barrel ownership programs is the benefit of City Winery's exclusive concierge service, offering first access to musical performances and special events held in the venue, as well as discounts to select functions. City Winery barrel owners are part of a luxury, urban wine market, where they can consult, taste and trade wine with other members, both in person and online, as part of a community of passionate wine sophisticates that City Winery has grown to be.
