Wine Profile

About City Winery Signature Series:

The City Winery Signature Series is an exclusive collection of our finest wines with label artwork designed by acclaimed artists. Our second collection features the artwork of Joseph Arthur

About Joseph Arthur:

Joseph Arthur is not only a talented musician and prolific painter, but has emerged as a modern day renaissance man. His body of artwork as grown tremendously during the Covid-19 pandemic and we are proud to showcase his striking and dynamic paintings for our second Signature Series.

About The Vineyard:

City Winery takes great pride in sourcing grapes from world-class vineyards with incredible terroir. This “Cuvée Durant” is a truly special wine, and one of the finest Pinot Noirs that we have ever produced. Durant Vineyard is meticulously farmed. The site is optimally situated for collecting gentle morning sunshine, cooling the plants in the afternoon, and draining cold air down the hill. The iron-infused clay soils give wines from the Durant vineyard a silken texture, classic Dundee Hills aromatics, and weightless power.

Winemaking Process:

This is classical winemaking from a long, cool vintage. It is 100% single vineyard Pinot Noir with native fermentation and daily, gentle punchdowns. These grapes received a four day cold soak, followed by a two week alcoholic fermentation. Produced exclusively from free run, the wine then aged in barrel for 13 months to achieve a balanced profile.

Recommended Pairings:

This is an elegant and refined wine that you easily can spend an evening alone with, without regrets. If you’d like to share dinner, look toward tapas or small plates - this is a complex wine that evolves as you drink it. Think of patas bravas, albóndigas, aceitunas or oreja a la plancha. If you’re feeling more traditional, try beef bourguignon, duck paté or salmon.

"A frenzied storm of aromas bound from the glass."

Our Approach

Step 1
Grapes
We contract carefully selected vineyards to supply grapes. Prior to harvest we choose our preferred varietals and make shipping arrangements.
Step 2
Crush and Maceration
Grapes are inspected upon arrival and if approved, de stemmed, sorted, and finally crushed.
Step 3
Aging
After fermentation the wine is barreled into the cellar to begin aging per the winemakers design. Typical aging is 6-10 months but options exist for aging up to 24 months.
Step 4
Blending
After the wine has aged to its optimal condition, our winemakers further refine the wine by blending it with other wines if desired.
Step 6
Labeling
The finished wine is hand bottled, corked, and labeled.
Step 6
The Result
A carefully crafted wine made with grapes from the best vineyards and produced locally. Indulge.
