Wine Profile

Net proceeds from this wine will benefit Come Back Alive Foundation.

Come Back Alive Foundation stands with the Ukrainian Armed Forces by funding purely defensive initiatives. Since 2014, we have supplied nearly 1,000 thermal scopes and over 250 reconnaissance drones. Along with this material support, we’ve supported technological advancements with 1,500 tablets containing «Armor» artillery calculation software. Come Back Alive also conducts training to give our troops broader skill sets. Since 2015, we’ve introduced courses for medical care workers, artillerymen, snipers, sappers, and defense analysts. After arriving home from the front line of defense, our troops receive support with sports rehabilitation and the development of veteran-run businesses. Our organization does not use funds to buy weaponry. Our mission is purely to supply technology, training, and ammunition to help save the lives of Ukrainians and help our soldiers defend Ukraine.

This wine is available for purchase online for delivery to any US state (except AL, AR, KY, MI, MS, SD, UT). It was also available at City Winery New York on March 10, 2022 during the sold out Ukraine benefit concert hosted by Gogol Bordello and featuring performances by Craig Finn, Franx Nicolay, Jesse Malin, Lady Lamb, Marc Roberge, Matisyahu, Patti Smith, Stephin Merritt, and Suzanne Vega.

You can continue to support Ukraine by purchasing this wine.

About the Wine

The nose opens with fresh notes of sage and eucalyptus, followed by black currant jam and hints of fresh blueberries, star anise and cloves. On the palate, this wine is soft and smooth with a medium body and lots of blackberries and dried cherries, hints of vanilla, cinnamon and allspice.

How City Winery Makes Wine

Step 1
Grapes
We contract carefully selected vineyards to supply grapes. Prior to harvest we choose our preferred varietals and make shipping arrangements.
Step 2
Crush and Maceration
Grapes are inspected upon arrival and if approved, de stemmed, sorted, and finally crushed.
Step 3
Aging
After fermentation the wine is barreled into the cellar to begin aging per the winemakers design. Typical aging is 6-10 months but options exist for aging up to 24 months.
Step 4
Blending
After the wine has aged to its optimal condition, our winemakers further refine the wine by blending it with other wines if desired.
Step 6
Labeling
The finished wine is hand bottled, corked, and labeled.
Step 6
The Result
A carefully crafted wine made with grapes from the best vineyards and produced locally. Indulge.
